Life is soooo busy these days, many of us are finding that we don't even have the time for a partner! Locking yourself away and working hard on an important project is some times something that we just have to do, but.... Get physically and mentally prepared for Xmas. Arrange to spend time with those you love, arrange to socialize with good friends. What to do if your family try to set you up?

This is a difficult one to answer. My gut reaction a little while ago would have been to avoid this like the plague however…a male friend of mine who has been single for two years had a very good experience with this.
His mother (bless her) kept telling him about this ‘perfect for him’ single daughter of one of her friends. He of course avoided being introduced to this friends daughter for nearly 18 months. His mother (in her wisdom) tricked him eventually into a ‘chance’ meeting with this friend’s daughter. Guess what? They have been dating now for six months and are very happy indeed!!!
I suppose if you look at it logically, your family should know you quite well and it is possible that they could be right about the perfect person for you.
If family or friends try to set you up, my advice now is to give it a try. Make sure that you keep your expectations low and that you arrange to meet them say for lunch initially so if they turn out not to be the person of your dreams..lunch isn’t too long to suffer each other!

Don’t put pressure on yourself!!!

Remember Xmas is only one day. It will soon pass and chances are that by the next Xmas-you won’t be single so…enjoy your single Xmas-your single days are numbered.

So you need to pay attention guys. Are you a natural flirt? Many of us are not. I'm not suggesting you waltz around coming on to everyone however, if your single and in the market for a date you have to be approachable. A friend of mine who is pretty, intelligent and one hell of a good sport...looks incredibly serious most of the time. She lives quite a distance from myself and on a recent visit confided in me that she hadn't had a date in a long while. She said that men just never approach her. She has had quite a difficult and stressful time of late and I know that she has been busy with work, but I decided to see if I could work out if there was something about her that stopped men making a connection. We went out for coffee, and as my pretty friend glided across the cafe floor to check out the deserts, I saw several men glance her way. One in particular, couldn't take his eyes off of her. He watched her as she say down and after a few moments her turned away. I had been half talking to my friend as I watched him. She sat with her shoulders hunched, a serious look on her face and hardly smiled. He glanced back a few times and turned away again. I decided to lean forward and whisper the dirtiest joke to her that I had ever heared. She was so shocked she say up wipped of her glasses and her face broke out into the broadest smile, followed by her cracking up and laughing her head off. The guy, turned back round and smiled as he watched her. He made eye contact with her, catching her off guard and nodded.
Ok, that was the end of it, she wasn't interested and he left after finishing his coffee but...It is important to note, that when she looked austere and stiff, he looked but, that was that. When she lightened up, laughed and giggled it made her seem perhaps more approachable?
Think about it, if you walk in to your Doctors surgery and are greeted by a happy smiling receptionist that chirps ' Can I help you?' Are you not relieved and grateful it is this lovely lady and not the old dragon who stares at you harshly and mouths through her teeth 'yes?'
It may sound like a strage comparison, but it's not. Make sure when you are out and about that, you look your best, you smile warmly and don't hold yourself all scrunched over and dowdy looking. Make eye contact with people and hold your head up high. Trust me, it makes you look and feel more approachable and will attract other to you quite naturally. Make sure you are prepared to wait to meet the right person, not just him/her, anybody! If you haven't dated in a while your internal radar of who is right for you may be a bit rusty so...take it slowly.
Remember if you find someone isn't right for you, end it honestly and quickly. It's not fair on you or them to carry it on to no end. If on the other hand your not sure...sit with it a while and see what develops.

There are opportunities everywhere, if you will only be aware of them.
A Brazilian girlfriend of mine declared the other day, " God I hate English Men!"
I was astounded by this, as well quite frankly I like em.
I asked her to explain why. " Well, I'm going to be working here for the next year and I'm single. I will probably stay that way until I leave to go home. English men are so painfully shy. Not shy in all ways but they are just sooo likely to admire you from a distance for sooo long, flirting and waving, little smiles you know? You know what, they seem to be unwilling to take the leap and actually ask a girl out. I don't know, I think they seem more afraid of a knock back than other guys thats all. Let me give you an example.. I went to a restaurant and an I talian guy caught me as I walked past his table and told me I was beautiful and handed me his phone number! No big deal. I once worked with an English Guy who I know liked me, he told everyone in the office that he liked me, he told my best friend he liked me but...He never told me, or asked me on a date!
He was very cute, I would have gone if he had asked. I got tired of all the people telling me 'he rally likes you' so...I ended up asking him out!
He chocked and said he was busy. I was really fed up as he declined.
Later after 9 months of flirting with me, them knocking me back... I heared from someone in the office that he had declined as I seemed 'TO FORWARD'! I mean...Seriously. You never get that from a non English man.lol"
Apart from this, I also remember hearing that some boffin doing a study found that ANYONE could find a date, perfect partner, a soul mate if you will, with in a 30 mile radius of their home who would be completely suitable for a happy long term commitment, not just to date if they looked. I have often wondered if this is true?
